AFL YOU CAN KICK GOALS Schools Initiative

The AFL YOU CAN KICK GOALS schools program is a joint AFL and Department of Immigration and Citzenship (Federal Government) initiative authored and project managed by Four Diegos Media.

Using Australian Football to Learn More about Australian Values

The AFL YOU CAN KICK GOALS schools resource is an opportunity for students and teachers to examine Australian values and how to incorporate them in their lives.

This resource uses Australian Football and its players to help build awareness of important cultural and community issues. It gives classmates and their families a chance to come together to reinforce and celebrate important harmony messages.

AFL 150 Years Schools Initiative

During 2008 the AFL encouraged schools to celebrate 150 years of Australian Football.

Within the classroom Australian Football was celebrated by completing one of the many lessons from the AFL Curriculum offering on afl.com.au/schools.

Also on their website the AFL provided a broad outline of 150 football themed lesson ideas that could be taught across key learning areas in the classroom.

Schools and their students were also invited to participate in various AFL themed national competitions linked to various Subject Learning Areas.

The AFL engaged Four Diegos Media to author its lesson and competition content for this project.
